• Give Yourself Permission To Be Happy!

    The Single Mom's Corner

It’s been a couple of weeks, months, or maybe even years since your heart was broken. If you are still holding on to pain, doubt, and fear, it’s time to let it go. Starting today, as in right now, we are evicting the past from your heart and from your thoughts. You have lost valuable time, and blocked way too many blessings while hanging on to the past!

    Your First Move

    • erase or throw out old pictures, letters, emails, and text messages.
    • block anybody that fuels your pain, especially on social media.
    • shut down or, if they refuse to cooperate, get rid of anybody who continues to remind you of the past, or feels the need to give you frequent updates on what your ex is doing. These are not friends! I like to call them “brush fires”.

Picking up the pieces and moving towards a new life of happiness is easier than you think. Choose to be happy, take back your control, never look back, and live the life you want and deserve. Tomorrow isn’t promised to anyone! So, let’s get to it!

    Lifting Your Spirits

Have you ever thought about starting an exercise challenge? What about giving yourself a new look? There is nothing more uplifting than a trip to the salon. That “I am too cute for myself!” feeling that you get when your hair is freshly washed and styled is the best! 🙂 Plan a day of pampering, even if it’s at home. Find some cool makeup tutorials, do a Target makeup haul, and spend the weekend trying out new looks. I had a blast when I did this. In the end, I went back to my natural look, since there is no makeup on the planet earth that can stand up to South Florida heat and humidity. The point was to have fun and feel good. Mission accomplished.

    Taking Action

After you have made yourself even more beautiful, it’s time to sit down and plan out your new life. What do you like to do? What new things would you like to try? What places, new and old, would you like to visit? What are your dreams? Make a list and plan to do at the least 1-2 fun things every week. Next, make another list and plan your complete life makeover. What do you need to do in order to transition into the person you want to be, living the life you want to live? If you hate your job, find or create a new one. If you need new friends, get out there and find new ones! Set specific, and achievable goals with realistic deadlines. It’s also a good idea to ask someone you can trust to be your accountability partner. At the end of each week sit down and look over your lists. What did you accomplish? What still needs work, and what do you need to do to make things to work?

    Your Homework 🙂

Scroll back to the “Lifting Your Spirits” section above and choose one or more of the three links provided. I chose the makeup tutorials and the new look links. I don’t know any woman who feels bad after getting a new look….unless of course you chose the wrong stylist. 🙂
