    Smartphone Apps For Smart Moms

There are so many great Smartphone Apps out there that I can not possibly list them all in one post. So, I will be updating this post from time to time. Please be sure to check back each month, and leave your comments below with awesome apps that you would like to see on this list. In the meantime here is my current “That’s Cool” list.  🙂

    Food & Grocery

    • Cozi.com (Free) – App Store, Google Store– This is one my top favorites! My clients also love this app. This is a great way to organize your family, and keep everyone in the loop!
    • Yummly Recipes & Grocery List (Free) App Store, Google Store – Recipe search engine, recommendations, and 1-hour grocery delivery.
    • Food On The Table (Starts out free)- App Store  – A very nice app. The only thing I did not like was when it required that I sign up for the $9.95/month service. From what I can figure out, it only allows you to create 3 meal plans for free, but I can live with that. I especially love that I can enter my zip code and see what is on sale at some of the grocery stores that I frequent. This app has a lot of cool features and definitely is worth checking out.
    • All Recipes (Free) – App Store, Google Store – largest food-focused social network created for cooks by cooks; where everyone plays a part in helping cooks discover and share the joy of home cooking

    New Moms

    • Total Baby  ($4.99) – Apple Store, Google Store – It will help you log and time all aspects of your child’s care. I LOVE this app. It was well worth the price. My daughter is 3 now and I still use it. I have info. from all of her doctor’s visits, including shot records. It will even make a graph of all of your entries (milestones, feeding, breastfeeding, diaper changes in detail, etc.). Ir also allows you to email the information entered.

    Family Games

    • Memorado (Free) Brain Games ~ The leading gym for the brain.
    • Noggin (Free to download) – Preschool shows and educational videos.

    Productivity & Family Organization

    • MomMaps (Starts out free) – App StoreGoogle Store  – Mom Maps allows parents to locate kid-friendly places and family fun areas near their current location. Awesome app if your city is one of the cities included in their search. I also noticed that a URL error pops up for many of the city links when I tried to use in on my computer.
    • SaveTheMom.com (Free) – App Store  Google Store  – Similar to Cozi. This app allows family members to broadcast audio and text messages or photos to your entire household in seconds. Of course, this means that your kid will probably send you an audio or text message instead of actually coming out of his or her room to find out what’s for dinner! 🙂
    • RedLaser (Free) – App StoreGoogle Store,  – RedLaser allows you to do comparison shopping, and search for in-store deals, by just scanning the barcode on a product.
    • Key Ring (Free) – App Store  – Say goodbye to all of the clutter on your keychain! Now you can just scan all of your store reward cards into this app, and simply hold it up for the clerk to scan at the register.
    • Home Routines ($4.99) – App Store – Very nice, but I felt that the price tag was a bit much. Home Routines is supposed to help you manage household work. I have not tried this app so please share your thoughts if you are currently using it.
    • CollegeSave ($2.99) – App Store – This a pretty cool College Savings Calculator! It helps you calculate the amount of money you need to save each month for your child’s college tuition. There are also some free versions similar to this app like Save 4 College .
    • iRewardChart (Free) – Parents reward tracker, behavior, and chore chart.
    • Ibotta Rebate (Free) – App Store, Google Store – Ibotta is a free app that pays you cash for everyday purchases. Ibotta has exclusive rebates at your favorite grocery stores, retailers, and shops. find the best deals every time you shop with Ibotta.

    Health & Fitness

    • Instant Heart Rate  (Free) Find out your heart rate in less than 10 seconds
    • Runtastic (Free) – Using GPS the app tracks sports and fitness activities (running, jogging, biking & walking).
    • 5K Runner (Free) – An app that will transition you from the couch to 5k running. (I’m still on the couch! ) 🙂
    • Tabata Trainer ($1.99) – App Store – Tabata Trainer is an easy to use interval training app based on the tabata method.

  1. Love this! What mom couldn’t use a little help!

  2. Thanks for this list! Another app that I love is called Motivated Moms. It has a great daily cleaning list that you can customize for your household.

  3. Wow! What a great list. I am planning to check out quite a few of these. As crazy as this may sound, I am super excited about the free brain training games. Ha! Thank you!
